How to Make a Needle Felt Flying Pig

Maria Callary

Looking for a fun and creative needle felting project? In this tutorial, we'll show you how to craft an adorable flying pig.

Step 1: Form the Pig’s Body

Start by tightly rolling a strip of pink wool into a plump oval shape. Use your felting needle to stab and shape the wool, creating a firm and smooth oval.

Step 2: Create the Pig’s Bottom

From the side of the oval, carefully open a small slit in the middle. Add a bit more wool into the opening and felt it in to form a round, chubby bottom—this will give your pig that extra cute look!

Step 3: Make the Pig’s Nose

Take a small amount of wool and roll it into a flat circle. Felt two tiny nostrils into it, then attach the nose to the front of the pig’s body.

Step 4: Add the Eyes and Mouth

Felt two small holes where the eyes will go and insert black beads or small wool balls. Underneath the eyes, felt a thin line to create the mouth.

Step 5: Add Cheeks and Blush

Using a tiny amount of blush-colored wool, lightly felt rosy cheeks onto your pig. For an extra touch of cuteness, add a little blush to the round bottom as well!

Step 6: Craft the Ears

Felt two small triangles separately for the ears. Attach them carefully to the top of the pig’s head.

Step 7: Make the Tail

Roll a thin strip of pink wool and twist it into a curly shape. Felt it onto the back of the pig to create a whimsical little tail.

Step 8: Add the Wings

Create two small wing shapes with white wool. Attach one wing to each side of the pig's body.

Step 9: Attach the Legs

Roll four short pieces of wool and felt them into simple legs. Attach them underneath the pig’s body to complete the figure.

Final Step: Enjoy Your Flying Pig!

Congratulations — you've finished your very own needle felted flying pig! This project is perfect for gifting, decorating your workspace, or simply enjoying as part of your handmade collection.
